Surviving the Summer Heat

Yay it’s summer!
Unless you’re not a summer person and then, depending on where you are, it could be humid heat, or super dry heat misery. In Georgia, we can get both, but lately it’s more the humid heat. I am more a Fall/Spring person but this Summer hasn’t been bad. My garden has been super happy even if I can’t seem to grow squash which sort wither and die. Which vexes me!
What does not vex me and one of the ways to beat the heat is summer reads. My current read is by Seressia Glass – Shadow Blade, Book 1 of the Shadow Chaser Verse and oh my. Who wouldn’t melt over a hot immortal Nubian Warrior traveling with an ancient Egyptian God in mortal form?
Still in the thick of this one but loving it and it’s set in Atlanta which his always fun to read in a paranormal verse. The main character is strong but balanced with a challenging ability. She’s amazing and I love her day job. Why isn’t Netflix all over this??? But then I think many fantasy and paranormal romances would make great miniseries.
Summer has been busy so I’m slightly slow carving down my reading list. Especially, wrapping up edits on Not a Chocolate Snowball’s Chance in Hades (Fall 2021) and working on the next story in my Five Mortal Realms Mythology series. Medusa deserves a HEA!

Did you know she had siblings?
Researching Greek Mythology, I always seem to find variations of myths and differing opinions. The same is true for Medusa.
She was the daughter of the sea gods Phorcys and Ceto but was born mortal and quite beautiful according to the writings of Ovid. There is variation on this depending on what you read. Her siblings were Euryale and Stheno and definitely were of the monster category. If you follow Ovid’s version, it seems in some ways, Medusa was a child of two worlds and in the end was trapped so she couldn’t live in either. Quite a tragedy.
I have to wonder though, what if she didn’t die at the hands pf Perseus and had a chance at happily ever after?
And therein lies my summer project – giving Medusa a happily ever after with her hotty professor. It's a fun story and helps me hide away from the worst of the heat. Hope everyone has their own respite, good books and a safe and peaceful summer.
Thanks for following and subscribing and I hope you have a great rest of the summer!
