Fall Cometh!

September 22 is the official beginning of Fall in the Northern Hemisphere.

In the North Georgia Mountains, that means mild weather, Fall festivals and some cooler nights. I’m ready for a couple of crisp mornings! And October with pumpkin everything, changing leaves and oh yes...the beginning of months of holidays through New Years.

But first I just want to bask in glorious harvest time, shorter days and all the spooky books and movies. Which influenced my next read about ghosts and ghost hunters. A Glimmer of Ghosts by Hunter J. Skye. I do love a good ghost story. Once upon a time, I used to enjoy giving tours in an old historic cemetery. I miss those days despite the enormous work, research and memorization that went into it. I might have to share a story or two and maybe some of the pictures in October.

The most exciting October news for me is my new short story, Not A Chocolate Snowball's Chance in Hades will be available for pre-order with the release coming up in December. More on that in my October blog but until then, below is the cover reveal and blurb. Thanks to Debbie Taylor for the gorgeous cover:

Held in Demeter's overprotective grip, power burns deep and seductive in Persephone.

When Hades, King of the Underworld, swaggers into the Olympian baking competition, Persephone's competitive spirit rises to meet his challenge. The two clash over more than cookies. Until a little chaos interrupts the competition.

She shouldn't trust Hades, but a fiery death with Ares doesn't appeal. An escape to the Underworld leads to a passion that burns hotter than Tartarus. Persephone is all too aware of Olympian rules. Loving Hades comes with a price.

Can she condemn the human world to death for one night of passion with him?

I’m so excited for this story to be published. I love Hades and Persephone and think there are so many interesting interpretations and fun ideas about this power couple. I do love giving Persephone a little more credit than the traditional “stolen away” story. After all, she was often feared more than Hades. Queen of the Underworld was a big power move.

Speaking of powerful women…I’m making more progress with my Medusa story. This is another fun, sexy story although longer than my short story.

Here’s a sneak peek:

The gentle tinkling warning bells interrupted Medusa’s pining. Another day, another intruder to punish. Until she heard the voice from her fantasies.

“Hallo, it’s Jason.”
Well, that took the vengeance right out of her before she uttered the standard warning.
He came back after she warned him off.
She was overcome with a compulsion to straighten her dress and threaten her snakes into submission. It was fine. No big deal. The racing of her heart was merely a reaction to the bells. Had nothing to do with the echo of his voice, or that she had another chance to enjoy this mad, gorgeous mortal.

That's it for September. Hope everyone is winding down from Summer and enjoys some of the Fall Festivities. Happy Fall Y'all!
